2015-17 ¿Cómo controla el cine nuestras emociones? Estudio en adolescentes del IES Gerardo Diego

Desde siempre, el cine ha sido una de mis pasiones. El cine puede hacer muchas cosas, desde informar de hechos reales de la historia, hasta llevarnos a mundos en los que las leyes de la naturaleza no son el límite. Nos puede transmitir ideas, pensamientos y realidades que hasta entonces no conocíamos, o hacernos olvidar durante un par de horas nuestras preocupaciones.

Considerando que algunas películas han conseguido emocionar a tantos espectadores, queremos aproximarnos al estudio de las conexiones emocionales que el cine puede provocar en los espectadores, llevando una investigación teórica y práctica en este trabajo.

Para conseguir saber los métodos que tiene el cine de provocar emociones primero hay que conocer qué es el cine, cómo ha sido su evolución histórica y qué son las emociones y cómo se clasifican.

Los objetivos de la parte teórica son:

-Conocer el cine y su historia

-Clasificar los géneros cinematográficos y los objetivos que tiene

-Definir el concepto de emoción y contar cuáles son las básicas, conociendo sus funciones

-Analizar las técnicas usadas en el cine (y en cada género cinematográfico) para provocar una respuesta emotiva

La parte práctica de este proyecto consiste en una encuesta sobre una serie de secuencias de películas, pertenecientes a distintos géneros cinematográficos, con el objetivo de responder a las siguientes cuestiones:

-Si hay factores que relacionan el cine con las emociones

-Si cada género cinematográfico provoca determinadas emociones

-Si la música es un factor a tener en cuenta para provocar emociones

-Si el conocimiento previo de la trama y actores influye en las emociones que se provocan

-Si los gustos y hábitos son condicionantes de nuestras emociones durante la película

-Si nuestras emociones pueden ser intensificadas por una película perteneciente a nuestro género favorito

-Si chicos y chicas sienten emociones diferentes durante la misma secuencia

-La influencia del ser o no aficionado al cine en el impacto emocional de una película

-La conexión que se puede establecer entre una película y algún momento de nuestra vida

-Si el número de veces que se ve una película puede afectar al impacto que esta tenga en nosotros

-Si la compañía, lugar y momento nos afecta emocionalmente cuando vemos una película

Para dar respuesta a todas estas preguntas se ha pasado una encuesta a 79 alumnos de 1º de bachillerato del curso 2015-2016 del IES Gerardo Diego. Para el estudio de resultados se han empleado  programas estadísticos.

Since ever, cinema has been one of my passions. Cinema can do many things, from informing about historic facts to carrying us to worlds in which natural laws are not the limit. It can transmit ideas, thoughts and realities we did not know about, or it can make us forget our worries for a couple of hours.

Having taken into consideration that some films have had an emotional impact in so many viewers, we want to make an approximation to the study of the emotional connections that the cinema can have in the people watching it, carrying a theoretic and field investigation on this project.

To know the methods the cinema has to produce emotions, first we need to know what the cinema is, its historic evolution and what emotions are and their classification.

The theoretic part objectives are :

-To know the cinema and its history

-To classify film genres and its objectives

-To explain the concept of emotion and tell which the basic ones are, knowing their functions

-To analyze the techniques used in the cinema (and each of the film genres) in order to produce an emotional response

The field work of this project consists in a survey about a series of sequences of films pertaining to different film genres, with the firm intention of answering the following questions:

-If there are factors that connect the cinema with emotions

-If each film genre produces specific emotions

-If music is a factor to take into consideration when it comes to provoking emotions

-If the previous knowledge of the argument and actors affects the emotions

-If the emotions produced by the movie are conditioned by likes and habits

-If our emotions can be enhanced by a film pertaining to our favourite film genre

-If males and females feel different emotions during the same sequence

-The influence of being or not a fan of the cinema in the emotional impact of a movie

-The connection that can be established between a movie and a specific moment in our lives

-If the number of times that we see a movie can affect the impact it has on us

-If the company, place and moment when we see a movie can affect us emotionally

To be able to answer all these questions a survey has been undertaken among a number of 79 students of 1^st of bachillerato from the IES Gerardo Diego that are part of the 2015-2016 promotion. I have used a statistical programme to analyse the results and later withdraw my conclusion.

Le cinéma est une de mes passions. Le cinéma peut faire beaucoup de choses, comme rendre compte des faits historiques et nous emmener à des mondes où les lois de la nature ne sont pas la limite.

Nous pouvons transmettre des idées, des pensées et des réalités que nous ne connaissons pas où nous évader pendant quelques heures de nos préoccupations.

Alors que certains films ont réussi à faire frémir de nombreux téléspectateurs, nous voulons aborder l’étude des liens émotionnels que le cinéma peut provoquer dans le public et faire une recherche théorique et pratique.

Pour connaître les méthodes du cinéma pour provoquer des émotions, on doit d’abord savoir ce que c’est le cinéma, son évolution historique, quelles émotions il y a, et comment elles se classent.

Les objectifs de la partie théorique sont :

-Connaitre le cinéma et son historie, ses genres et ses objectifs.

-Définir le concept d’émotion et dire ce que sont les émotions principales en connaissant ses fonctions.

-Analyser les techniques utilisées dans le cinéma (et dans chaque genre) pour provoquer une réponse émotionnelle.

La partie pratique de ce projet consiste à une enquête auprès d’un certain nombre de séquences de films, de différents genres de films, dans le but de répondre aux questions suivantes :

S’il y a des facteurs qui connectent le cinéma et les émotions

Si tous les genres de film provoquent certaines émotions

Si la musique est un facteur à considérer pour provoquer des émotions

Si la connaissance du film et des acteurs influence les émotions

Si les goûts et les habitudes sont des influences pour nos émouvoir pendant le film

Si nos émotions peuvent être intensifiées par un film appartenant à notre genre préfère

Si les garçons et les filles  ressentent des émotions différentes au cours de la même séquence

L’iinfluence d’être ou non un fan du cinéma pour l’impact émotionnel d’un film

S’il y a une connexion entre un film et un certain moment de nos vies

Si le nombre de fois que nous regardons un film peut affecter l’impact émotionnel

Si le lieu, le temps ou le groupe de personnes avec qui nous regardons un film nous émeut.

Pour répondre à toutes ces questions on a passé un sondage auprès de 79 élèves du 1 bac du cours 2015-2016 IES Gerardo Diego. Pour étudier les résultats on a utilisé des programmes statistiques.

2015-17 Las drogas influyen en las enfermedades mentales

SILVIA SERRANO ANTÓN - Biología

Los motivos de la elección de este tema son principalmente mi interés por la mente (por la conducta humana, comportamiento, reacciones ante distintos estímulos…) desde hace ya mucho tiempo, además de mi creciente pasión por la medicina (por estudiar al ser humano y ayudar). El saber que engloba mi tema es la psiquiatría, que es la parte de la medicina que se ocupa del estudio, el diagnóstico, el tratamiento y la prevención de enfermedades mentales de carácter orgánico y no orgánico.

Mi metodología consistirá en la recopilación de información sobre los trastornos psíquicos y las drogas. Tras la obtención de la información se realizará la transmisión del cuestionario DAST-20 a una población sin un diagnóstico en las enfermedades mentales y a otra con diagnóstico, consiguiendo en ambas el mismo número de cuestionarios para su posterior estudio, pasándolos en el centro de salud denominado Son Espases (en cuanto al grupo con diagnóstico) y en centros educativos (grupo sin diagnóstico), ya sean universidades o institutos. Se Intentarán solucionar los objetivos y relacionar estos mismos con anteriores estudios.

The aim of this project is to show, through the studies and the test, which was given to the participants aged between sixteen and twenty-five, that the drugs have an influence on mental diseases.

My methodology will consist of the delivery of the questionnaire called “DAST-20” to two groups, one without diagnosis in psychiatric diseases and the other with, having at the end 193 participants in each group.

The results were compared with previous studies and showed similarity to previously obtained conclusions as well as exposed some new facts.

Le sujet de ce projet est établir une relation entre la consommation des drogues et les maladies mentales. On connaît les problèmes que la consommation des drogues peut entraîner or, est-ce que les drogues sont à l’origine des maladies mentales?

On a présenté un questionnaire à des personnes entre les 16-25 ans afin de trouver un possible abus des drogues (dont 193 avaient un diagnostic psychiatrique et 193 n’en avaient pas).

Pour conclure on analysera des données entre ce deux composantes déjà présentées dans d’autres études et on en tirera de nouveaux résultats

2015-17 Medicina regenerativa: Grado de conocimiento y aceptación social

La Medicina Regenerativa y la Ingeniería Biológica están teniendo un gran desarrollo en estos últimos años gracias a nuevos descubrimientos sobre los mecanismos utilizados por el cuerpo humano para regenerarse a sí mismo, y sobre la capacidad de diferenciación de las células madre. Así, se están desarrollando una serie de medidas terapéuticas relacionadas con el trasplante de células madre, la regeneración de tejidos o la creación de órganos completos listos para ser trasplantados.

En este contexto se ha planteado el proyecto de investigación de Bachillerato de Excelencia (Comunidad de Madrid), “Medicina Regenerativa. Grado de Conocimiento y Aceptación Social”, que está dividido en dos partes:

§  Parte teórica: recopilación de información sobre el estado actual de la Medicina Regenerativa en sus tres facetas de: Terapias con Células Madre, Ingeniería de Tejidos e Ingeniería de Órganos.

§  Parte práctica: investigación sobre el grado de conocimiento y aceptación que el ciudadano medio español tiene sobre las prácticas anteriores.

Regenerative medicine and Biological Engineering are having a great development in these last years due to recent discoveries about the mechanisms used by human body to regenerate itself, and differentiation capacity of stem cells. Thereby, numerous therapeutic measures related to transplants with stems cells, tissue regeneration or creation of complete organs ready to be transplanted are being developed.

It is in this context where this researching project of “Bachillerato de Excelencia” (Comunidad de Madrid), “Regenerative Medicine. Knowledge and Social Acceptance” was made, which is divided in two parts:

§  Theoretical part: Information compilation about current state of Regenerative Medicine in its three facets: Stem Cells Therapy, Tissue Engineering and Organ Engineering.

§  Practical part: Researching about the degree of knowledge and acceptance that the Spanish average citizen has about the previous practices.

La Médecine Régénérative et l’Ingénierie Biologique ont eu un grand développement ces dernières années, grâce à des nouvelles découvertes sur les mécanismes utilisés par le corps humain pour se régénérer, et la capacité de différenciation des cellules souches. Donc, de nombreuses mesures thérapeutiques liées à la transplantation de cellules souches, la régénération des tissus ou la création d'organes entiers prêts pour la transplantation sont en développement.

Dans ce cadre, ce projet de recherche de «Bachillerato de Excelencia» (Comunidad de Madrid), «Médecine Régénérative. Degré de Connaissance et Acceptation Sociale», est divisé en deux parties:

§  Partie théorique: Collecte des informations sur l'état actuel de la Médecine Régénérative dans ses trois facettes: Thérapie avec Cellules Souches, Ingénierie Tissulaire et Ingénierie d’ Organes.

§  Partie pratique: Investigation du degré de connaissance et d’acceptation que le citoyen espagnol moyen a sur les pratiques précédentes.

2015-17 El número aúreo y las proporciones

CARLOS SANZ REGUERO - Matemáticas

En este proyecto investigo sobre el Número Áureo. 

En primer lugar, voy a hablar sobre el origen de los números, cómo se han desarrollado desde la civilización más antigua hasta hoy. 

Luego, seguimos con Pitágoras, el padre de las matemáticas. Todo en relación a sus descubrimientos, su participación en algunas teorías matemáticas y la escuela que crea. En esta escuela, se estudiaba matemáticas y a sus discípulos se les llamaba "pitagóricos". 

Además hablo de las características del Número Áureo, aspectos básicos, aplicaciones, descubrimiento y aparición en algunos campos como la arquitectura, el arte, la escultura y la naturaleza. Finalmente, realicé un experimento de las proporciones humanas que Vitruvio estableció en uno de sus libros.

In this project I investigate about the Golden Ratio. 

Firstly, I am going to talk about the origin of numbers, how they have been developed from the oldest civilization to today. 

Then, we follow with Pitágoras, the father of mathematics. I mention his discoveries, his participation in some mathematic theories and the school he creates. At this school, people studied mathematics and his disciples where called “pitagóricos”. 

Moreover I talk about the Golden Ratio characteristics, like basic aspects, applications, discovering, and appearance in some areas such as architecture, art, sculpture and nature. Finally, I made an experiment of the human ratios Vitruvio set in one if his books.

2015-17 Domotización del IES Gerardo Diego

ANA Mª MOLINA DÍAZ - Tecnología

El objetivo de este proyecto es automatizar ciertas instalaciones del IES Gerardo Diego para mejorar el confort de los usuarios y reducir el consumo económico y energético del centro, a través del uso de la tecnología.

Las instalaciones tratadas han sido: iluminación y calefacción en las clases y la ventilación del hall. Para mejorar la instalación de iluminación se ha automatizado el encendido y apagado de las luces dependiendo de la luz diurna que haya, en segundo lugar, en el circuito de calefacción, se ha automatizado el paso y el corte del agua caliente dependiendo de la temperatura y, en último lugar, se ha tratado la ventilación en el hall, en la cual se controlarán unos motores controlados vía bluetooth desde un dispositivo Android.

The aim of this project is to show the usage of technology to automate certain installations in IES Gerardo Diego to reduce energy consumption and improve the comfort inside the building

The facilities that have been addressed are: the lighting and heating systems in the classrooms and the air conditioning in the hall. 

First, we intend to implement the automation of the lit and shutdown of the lamp system, secondly, we will install a system to control the intake and cutting of water of the heating systems, and finally we will introduce a system to control the opening and closing of the windows by means of a bluetooth device.

2015-17 Diseño de un automóvil

JESÚS CASTRO ÁLVAREZ - Dibujo Técnico

Mi proyecto consiste en el diseño del chasis y la carrocería de un automóvil, dibujando el exterior con todos sus elementos. Primero investigo y analizo el diseño de automóviles a lo largo de la historia para después diseñar el coche. Parto de la mecánica modificada de un coche existente, y creo la estructura que da forma al coche y la chapa que lo recubre. El diseño del automóvil tiene en cuenta la estética y la eficiencia aerodinámica. El resultado final es presentado como dibujo en papel, dibujo 2D a ordenador y diseño 3D.

My project consists in the design of a super sports car, following the current and analyzing the different design styles in the automotive market. This study is therefore the compilation of sketches, plans and virtual 3D designs.

Firstly, I began by the development of car designs along history and its main characteristics. I moved on to study the latest changes and innovations in the car market.

After the research process I started drawing and making sketches in paper. Afterwards, I did the plans using Autocad and Sketchup Layout. Following these steps I made a 3D virtual mockup using Sketchup and some renders like Indigo and Maxwell.

The last part was the development of the written work and the making of my presentation, which link all the information and data I have needed to design my car.

I started this project because of my fondness in drawing and technology. I have learnt a lot with this work and I think it will be truly useful in my future, as I want to work in the automotive or aerospace market.

2015-17 Arquitectura paisajística: análisis, planificación, diseño y manejo del entorno natural y edificado

PAULA CHAVES BOHÓRQUEZ - Dibujo Técnico

El objetivo de este proyecto es habilitar mediante la arquitectura, un espacio deprimido situado entre la Avenida del Talgo,  la carretera de Aravaca y el Colegio Americano de Pozuelo de Alarcón a través de la plantación de especies forestales, construcción de pequeñas infraestructuras de uso público y creación de lagunas y riachuelos artificiales que convertirán este terreno en un lugar de ocio y disfrute para todos los ciudadanos. 

The main purpose of this project is to put forward a design that enables a land through landscape architecture.

This land is located between the Talgo Avenue, Aravaca road and the American School of Pozuelo de Alarcón and approximately measures 8.85 hectares.

The process will consist in the implementation of forestry and animal species, the construction of a small infrastructure for public use, an electrical installation and the creation of ponds and streams.

As a result, we will be able to make use of this area by making people come to spend the day here.

2015-17 ¿Conocemos nuestros límites? Estrategia mental y preparación física en retos de esfuerzo extremo (superar un Iron man)

¿Por qué sigo hacia adelante?

Esta pregunta nos la hemos formulado todos alguna vez en nuestra vida. En ocasiones, cuando todo se pone en contra, es humano tener un momento de debilidad en el que uno se plantea abandonar, tirar por el camino fácil y rendirse, asumiendo que no has sido capaz de lograr sus propósitos.. Nos convencemos nosotros mismos que es la mejor opción y hacemos nuestras circunstancias un poco más llevaderas, pensando que es lo más razonable y esperando que habrá otras ocasiones para alcanzar nuestra meta. 

Será cada persona, en cada momento, con sus circunstancias la que decidirá cómo reaccionar en los momentos difíciles. Las hay que en esos momentos se crecen, se hacen fuertes y buscan soluciones,  sin desistir.  Su voluntad es tan grande y poderosa que luchan, continúan y superan cualquier obstáculo, encontrando una salida a sus problemas. Estas personas se convierten en auténtico  ejemplo de auto superación y demuestran  que a pesar de las circunstancias rendirse no es una opción.

Los deportistas de alto rendimiento son el ejemplo perfecto para visualizar este perfil de personas donde el sacrificio, la voluntad, la superación de los problemas,  y la dedicación se materializan día a día. En este proyecto, trataré de desgranar todos los aspectos físicos, técnicos y psicológicos que constituyen la base de los grandes  deportistas de élite, curtidos en las peores condiciones para lograr una prueba de esfuerzo inimaginable.

Me gustaría encontrar una similitud entre las personas que superan una prueba de este tipo con otros hombres, mujeres o niños con otra clase de problemas de mucha mayor gravedad (enfermedades, problemas familiares, , marginación social… ) que estén planteando rendirse. 

La conclusión será bastante contundente: con dedicación, esfuerzo, constancia, voluntad y método, casi todo será posible para el  ser humano que se fije un objetivo de superación.

 “Just carry on” Could you imagine how many times have you hear that sentence? Have you ever felt tired of keep moving forward? Most of us had, sometimes we wonder why we don’t surrender. There are some people who have the will to keep moving in spite of the bad atmosphere or situations that surround them.

What’s the matter with that people? Why they don’t just give in? I’m really looking forward to answering the question. That is the reason why I had looked for that spirit and fortunately I found it in triathletes.

The most extreme triathlon championship, called as the Iron Man is run by common man keen on sports.  How that can be possible? Is there a genetic reason? Only the greats have the chance to be a finisher? In order to answer those questions, I have to investigate and look close from that sportsman’s point of view. Thanks to some interviews and some research, I will be able to get the information I need.  The psychological and biological factor will be big issues to take into account, but really the most important thing and key in this investigation project is the question:

Why keep on moving forward?

2015-17 Le décodage biologique: et si la maladie n'était pas un problème?

Une émotion est une réaction psychologique et physique à une situation. Elle a d'abord une manifestation interne et génère une réaction extérieure. Pour certaines une émotion est un concept simple. Pour d’autres les émotions sont un component fondamental de l’expérience humaine, c’est le cas du Décodage Biologique, une nouvelle thérapie qui conçoit les émotions à l’origine des maladies.

Ce projet d’investigation vise à comprendre le fonctionnement de cette thérapie, l’histoire, les détracteurs, la diffusion dans le monde, la situation de cette approche thérapeutique aujourd’hui y comprise sa croyance et acceptation.

L’objectif principal de ce projet de recherche est de démontrer la validité ou invalidité de la thérapie après une phase d’investigation et une phase d’expérimentation.

Las emociones son reacciones que se experimentan día tras día. Son un componente fundamental en la experiencia humana para la memoria, la toma de decisiones, nuestros juicios y razonamientos, nuestra conducta, nuestras relaciones sociales y nuestro bienestar. No es difícil hacerse una idea de lo importantes que resultan estas en nuestra vida, incluso existen corrientes que llegan a considerarlas la verdadera causa de las enfermedades. Este es el caso de una nueva terapia: La Biodescodificación.

En este proyecto de investigación se tratará de comprender desde el nacimiento de esta terapia hasta su posible desarrollo futuro, incluyendo su funcionamiento, detractores y situación actual. El procedimiento constará de una fase de investigación y otra experimental que se basará en encuestas a los alumnos del IES Gerardo Diego, cuestionarios a terapeutas y a fundadores de esta terapia y por último se asistirá a consulta para probar este procedimiento terapéutico

En resumen, el principal objetivo de este proyecto será determinar si es posible o no la curación de enfermedades por medio de esta nueva forma de tratamiento.

As we all know, emotions play an important role in our way of thinking and behaving. The emotions we feel each day can compel us to take action and influence the decisions we make about our lives to the point that they could even be considered the cause of diseases and illnesses according to a new revolutionary therapeutic approach: Biodecoding.

This project will start with a brief introduction to the history of the biodecoding therapy, followed by its functioning, procedure and the basis including also the situation of this treatment nowadays, mainly in France and Spain and the faith and knowledge about it based on surveys undertaken by the Gerardo Diego’s students, therapists and some of the founders of this medical approach.

In short, the main purpose of this research is to confirm the validation or invalidation of the biodecoding therapy.

2015-17 Abriendo la caja negra: Bases y fundamentos de la personalidad

INÉS MARTÍNEZ PALACIO - Filosofía

Si se pidiera a distintas personas que definan lo que entienden por personalidad, probablemente no se encontrarían dos que lo hicieran de la misma manera. Al ser un concepto tan difícil de definir y determinar con exactitud, la historia del estudio de la personalidad es larga y han sido muchos los científicos que han intervenido en ella.

En primer lugar, este proyecto describe los distintos elementos que conforman la misteriosa caja negra de la que está formada nuestra personalidad, analizando los métodos utilizados por la ciencia hasta llegar a descubrirlos.

A continuación se centrará en un método de estudio y medición de la personalidad llamado las Cinco Grandes Dimensiones, narrando toda la historia evolutiva por la que ha pasado esta teoría hasta llegar a ser lo que hoy es.

Basándose en ella se realizará la parte experimental. Se propondrá una encuesta a personas divididas en grupos por sexo y por edades, buscando ver si existen rasgos comunes o grandes diferencias entre las características de la personalidad de hombres y de mujeres y del ser humano en general cuando se encuentra en un período u otro de su vida.

If different people were asked to explain what comes to their minds when thinking about personality, we are unlikely to find two similar answers. As it is a concept very difficult to define and determine precisely, the history of personality goes a long way back and has been developed by a remarkable number of scientists.

First and foremost, this project describes the different elements that conform the mysterious black box that our personality is formed of, analysing every method used by science to discover them.

In addition to that, it will focus on one specific method  of studying and mesuring personality named the Big Five Traits, narrating all its evolutive history.

The experimental part will be based on it. A survey will be conducted to people belonging to different groups divided by gender and age, searching for common features or big differences between the personality features of men and women and of all human beings when going through different periods of their lives.

Si on demandait à plusieurs personnes d’expliquer ce qu’elles pensent quand elles entendent le mot personnalité, nous serions incapables de trouver deux réponses identiques. C’est pour cette raison que l’histoire de la personnalité est aussi longue et a été analysée par de nombreux scientifiques.

En premier lieu, ce projet décrit les éléments qui composent la mystérieuse boîte de notre personnalité et analyse les méthodes employées par la science afin de les découvrir.

En plus, le projet ajoute une méthode d’étude de la personnalité nommée Les Cinq Grands et montrera l’évolution de cette méthode.

Comme partie expérimentale, un questionnaire sera proposé à des groupes différents divisés par âge et genre, ayant comme but de trouver les traits communs tels que les différences de personnalité pendant les étapes de vie des hommes et des femmes.

2015-17 American patriotism

Desde el principio de la humanidad, hemos manifestado un sentimiento de apego y de identidad hacia la tierra que habitamos. Al abandonar el estilo de vida nómada el ser humano se estableció en comunidades y desarrolló un sentimiento de preocupación por el bienestar del territorio que habitaba y al cual ayudaba a progresar al igual que un sentimiento de identificación con la cultura de su comunidad y sus habitantes.

Por definición, se entiende por patriotismo un sentimiento de afecto e identidad que siente un individuo hacia su tierra natal o hacia el territorio que reconoce como su patria y  la disposición de ayudar al progreso y bienestar de esta. Este sentimiento viene determinado por una serie de valores, afectos, cultura e historia comunes entre compatriotas y únicos para cada país.

El patriotismo se mantiene muy arraigado en nuestros días sobre todo en determinados países y más aún en periodos de crisis o durante conflictos bélicos. Entre todos los países que promueven el patriotismo cabe destacar los Estados Unidos, que a pesar de ser un país relativamente nuevo y cuya población proviene de diferentes etnias y culturas, mantiene un gran sentimiento patriótico como un signo de identidad común. 

El objetivo de este proyecto es analizar la situación actual del patriotismo en la sociedad Americana. Para ello, he realizado un estudio previo sobre la influencia del patriotismo en la población americana a lo largo de la breve historia de Estados Unidos y he elaborado un estudio a base de encuestas sobre el patriotismo dirigido a estadounidenses.

Ever since the beginning of humanity, men have developed a sense of emotional attachment to the land they inhabit. When humans abandoned their nomadic lifestyle and settled in communities they developed a feeling of concern for the well-being of the land they lived in and helped flourish, as well as a sense of personal identification and special affection for their community´s culture and their fellow citizens.

We describe patriotism as a feeling of special affection and identification with one´s homeland or towards the land that one recognizes as their “patria” and for which one is willing to sacrifice to achieve progress and welfare. This identity includes a series of values, a culture and a history that every compatriot shares and identifies with.

Patriotism is very present nowadays, especially in times of international crisis. Among all of the countries that promote patriotism, the United States is the one that stands out the most. In spite of being a relatively newly formed country and inhabited by very diverse ethnicities and cultures, Americans maintain a very strong patriotic feeling as a sign of common identity.

The objective of this project is to analyze the current situation of American patriotism. In order to do that, I have executed a previous investigation on the influence of patriotism in America’s population along the brief history of the United States and I have conducted a study based on surveys about patriotism directed to American citizens.

2015-17 Mutaciones: pasado, presente y futuro

En la actualidad cualquier información, noticia o descubrimiento que se relacione con la salud o el conocimiento del ser humano menciona el término Genética. Los genes controlan el funcionamiento de las células y todo nuestro cuerpo. Cuando algo va mal con uno o más de los genes en una célula, los cambios ocurren. Tales cambios se refieren comúnmente como mutación y estos errores genéticos serán el tema de esta investigación.

Este proyecto comienza describiendo lo que son las mutaciones, cómo se forman y por qué, además de los diferentes tipos que existen. Tras conocer en qué consisten estos fallos realizaremos un viaje por la historia de las mutaciones.

Este estudio está estructurado en tres partes: el pasado donde hablaremos de cómo se descubrieron las mutaciones y su importancia en la evolución humana; el presente que incluye la parte práctica de esta investigación en la que  utilizando como sujetos a los propios alumnos del Instituto Gerardo Diego, se pretende conocer como de esparcidas se encuentra esta alteración genética en la población y por último, el futuro, donde describiremos enfermedades reales formadas por mutaciones, cambios futuros que este fenómeno podría causar en la evolución humana y más ...

Genes control the way cells work and so all our body. When something goes wrong with one or more of the genes in a cell, changes occur. Such changes are commonly referred as fault or mutation and these genetics mistakes will be the topic of this investigation.

This project stars describing what are mutation, how are they formed and why and the different types that exist. After the introduction and knowing what they are, this study is structured in three parts: the past where we will talk about how mutations were discovered and their importance in human evolution; the present where is including the practical part trying to give an answer to how spread faults are now a days; and the last part, the future, where we will describe actual diseases formed by mutations, futures changes that this phenomenon could cause in humans evolution and more…

2015-17 ¿Hay melodía en las Matemáticas?

                                                                   

LORENA ESPINOSA RICO - Matemáticas                                                                                                                                Cuando leo una partitura y veo que está llena de números que se entrelazan con las notas musicales, me pregunto si las Matemáticas y la Música están relacionadas de alguna manera.

Por esa razón, el objetivo de este proyecto de investigación es demostrar la relación entre ambas materias.

El trabajo empezará explicando cómo los pitagóricos concebían el mundo a través de los números y como Pitágoras construyó su escala musical a partir de razones matemáticas de números enteros. A continuación se hablará de conceptos musicales como la melodía, la armonía, los intervalos y la afinación temperada.

Podremos ver como el número áureo y la sucesión de Fibonacci aparecen en composiciones clásicas y la relación que tienen estos dos conceptos matemáticos con la música. Se explicarán algunos de los métodos matemáticos para componer y por último se hablará de la música del siglo XX y la actualidad y su relación con los fractales y la geometría.

When I read a score and see that it is full of numbers that interweave with the music notes, I ask myself if mathematics and music are related in any way.

For this reason, the objective of this research project is to prove the relation between these two disciplines.

The project will start by explaining how the Pythagoreans conceived the world through numbers and how Pythagoras built his musical scale using ratios of integers. The study focuses from them onwards on musical concepts such as melody, harmony, intervals and tempered tuning.

We will be able to see how the gold number and the Fibonacci sequence appear in classic compositions and the relation between these two mathematic concepts and music. I will also explain some mathematical methods to compose, and lastly I will conclude making an analysis of 20^th century current music and its relation with fractals and geometry.

C´est en lisant une partition musicale qu´on remarque de nombres liés avec les notes de musique et qu´on questionne si les mathématiques et la musique ont une relation quelconque.

Dans le cadre de ce projet d´investigation on tentera de démontrer cette relation.

Le travail commence par expliquer comment Pythagoriciens ont conçu le monde á travers les nombres, et comment Pythagore a construit sa gamme musicale à partir des raisons mathématiques de nombres entiers. Puis, on parle des concepts musicaux tels que la mélodie, l’harmonie, les intervalles et l’affinage tempéré. 

On constate aussi comment le nombre d’or et la suite de Fibonacci apparaissent dans les compositions classiques et leur rapport avec la musique.  On explique également quelques méthodes mathématiques pour composer, pour terminer en parlant de la musique contemporaine et sa relation avec les fractales et la géométrie. 

2015-17 Diseño de una torre emblemática en la ciudad de madrid

El objetivo de este proyecto es crear una estructura emblemática olímpica que simbolice a la ciudad de Madrid. Una parte del proyecto fue dedicada a la búsqueda de información acerca del tema, así como el desarrollo e investigación sobre principios arquitectónicos básicos. Durante la realización del proyecto se ha tenido en cuenta que la obra creada no puede causar contaminación visual, que debe ser funcional y estéticamente agradable.

La finalidad inicial del proyecto es desarrollar la idea explicada anteriormente, de una manera muy gráfica y creativa, seguida de una maqueta hecha a escala que junto con el diseño en SketchUp permitirá hacernos una idea más precisa de cómo sería la torre si se ejecutara su construcción.

Throughout the history of humanity, diverse types of constructions have been created around the world. Nowadays, those constructions are part of the culture of the city in which they were built and they have also become a symbol of that city for the rest of the world. Some examples of these are: The Big Ben in London, The Pyramids of Egypt, The Eiffel Tower in Paris, etc.

After having analyzed a few of these constructions, the idea for this project triggered in my mind: why not designing a tower that could become the emblem of Madrid?

I will first concentrate in carrying out a brief study of the functions and uses of towers along the history, followed by an explanation of the processes that should be undertaken for the construction of the tower and finally in this part I will thoroughly study some architectonic foundations, which I find important.

El UCD o diseño centrado en el usuario es uno de los métodos más innovadores  utilizado hoy en día por las grandes empresas de tecnología para el desarrollo de cualquier tipo de software,  ya sea una página web, una aplicación móvil o un videojuego.

La idea es sencilla y lógica: se analiza, mediante estudios sociológicos y otras técnicas, el comportamiento de los usuarios que van a usar el software, para así después adaptarlo a ellos y lograr que consigan una experiencia satisfactoria que inconscientemente les incite a  volver a utilizarlo.

  

My research Project, in collaboration with Raúl Martin Celaya, consist of designing the website of the IES Gerardo Diego. 

   

 To do this, I have focused on User Centered Design, which is a philosophy of design that is centered on different processes and whose main objective is to develop a product that meets the needs of all users, what tasks they want to undertake and the best way to achieve them, making use of the information obtained from the users.

  

The Project has been guided by Ricardo Imbert Paredes, a professor from the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, who introduced us to UCD. 

The project has been divided in three different stages: 

·         Analysis of the context of use. 

·         Design of the low-fidelity prototype. 

·         Design of the high-fidelity prototype.
