We all live moments that, in the future, we will remember. When we
remember them, some emotions invade us. We remember, for example, with joy, nostalgia
or regret. Precisely, this is the aim of this project: do emotions change if we
stop remembering in the same way?
First of all, this project deals with
the most relevant aspects of one of the most significant diseases in the field
of memory: Alzheimer's disease. Thus, this research will focus on the basic
elements of both dementia and Alzheimer’s disease: its history, its possible
treatments, its causes and others.
The study will also delve into a
theoretical framework of emotions in an attempt to define them, analyse its
psychobiology and classify them. As a result of the previous study, we will be
capable of establishing a relation between memory and emotions and to determine
how the degree of dependence that a patient with Alzheimer’s acquires
in the course of the illness influences the development of his daily life.
Taking into account the above
aspects, the experimental part of the project will be carried out through a
survey of people with and without Alzheimer's disease. To determine this
degree of dependence the study will be centred on four specific emotions:
happiness, fear, sadness and anger, which gathered data will help us reach some
key conclusions on the study.
